5 simple steps for SWING STATES:

Find out if out-of-state college students may register to vote in state by contacting the election authority (available at the "Register to Vote" link).

1) Start a team. Gather your friends, your friends’ friends, or post signs in permitted areas on campus asking for volunteers. You only need a few people to have a huge impact on the election.

2) Ask your student affairs office about setting up a voter registration table. Most colleges and universities let students table to register voters. If you can’t table on your campus be creative, grab a few clipboards and catch students coming out of classes, throw a party, go to social or sporting events, etc.

3) Print the “Commit to Vote” form and get voter registration forms. Forms can be printed from the “Register to Vote” link and print out the voter registration form. Preprinted voter registration forms can usually be found at libraries, post offices, and county or city clerks' offices. Call the election authority for your state for more information

4) Register voters. Explain that “swing state” voters have a unique opportunity to make a difference in the presidential election. Have them fill out the registration form and mail or deliver them to the appropriate election authority. Make sure they sign the Commit to Vote form. Please be aware that in most states, you may not be partisan when registering voters. This means no campaign buttons, t-shirts, comments about the candidates, etc.

5) Report back and follow up. Now that you have the names of committed absentee voters email or call them to check-in and see how the registration/application process went.
